About Jalita

I’ve always believed that creativity is a bridge—a way to connect worlds, cultures, and ideas. My journey as a designer and artist has been anything but linear, shaped by a deep love for color, contrast, and storytelling. Raised between Sweden and Thailand and having lived in over ten countries, I see the world through a lens of bold exploration—where art, pattern, and interiors are woven into life itself.

From Global

Design

to Artistic Freedom

For over a decade, I worked at the intersection of luxury, design, and digital transformation. From leading creative projects at renowned agencies in London, Paris, Stockholm, Helsinki, NYC, and Shanghai to collaborating with brands like Louis Vuitton, Jamie Oliver, and Harley Davidson—I honed my eye for aesthetics, brand storytelling, and high-impact design.

But something was missing—an unfiltered space for self-expression beyond corporate identity and commercial branding.

That shift led me to art. To surface pattern design. To interior spaces that tell a story. To a place where creativity isn’t just about how things look—it’s about how they feel.
About movement, emotion, and transformation.

Design that feels like home.

Art, Design & the Spaces Between

Where I am now

Today, I’m building Jalita Design House—a new design label born from my love for art, patterns, and interiors. It’s the latest evolution of my creative journey, blending expressive artistry with immersive design.

Alongside it, I run IKU Studio, my creative business and physical studio space in South Africa, where I curate and create, designing pieces that merge fine art with functional, livable design.

Whether it’s a bespoke wallpaper collection, a striking pattern, or an immersive art piece, my work is about creating moments that captivate and inspire.

What inspires me

I’m inspired by nature, heritage, and color.
Bold contrasts—the softness of nature against structured form, the way hues shift in changing light, the dance between digital precision and hand-drawn imperfection.

It’s a space I’m currently exploring with deep curiosity and joy.

My work draws from Japanese eclecticism, Scandinavian serenity, and the rich textures and vibrant colors of Thailand—along with all the places I’ve called home. I work across mediums: digital illustration, hand-painted watercolors, and even epoxy art—constantly seeking new ways to push creative boundaries.

Where I’m headed

This year marks an exciting evolution in my work as I prepare to launch my debut wallpaper collection at Decorex Cape Town 2025. It’s the beginning of a deeper journey into interiors—and a move beyond the digital world—where art steps off the screen and into immersive, living spaces.

I’m also expanding into licensing, offering my patterns for textiles, wallpaper, and home decor—creating design that lives, move, and transform.

I believe design should be bold. Expressive. Unexpected.
And most of all—alive.

A Few Things You Didn’t Know About Me

Horses have been part of my life since I was five. I spent over ten years competing in national show jumping competitions, but these days, I find the most joy in long forest rides, beach gallops, and endurance riding. My absolute favorites? Arabic horses—beautiful, spirited, and just a little crazy.

For years, my life fit into a single suitcase. I went through an extreme minimalist phase where everything I owned—including my laptop—fit into an 8kg backpack. I’ve traveled to over 150 countries, lived in 10, and speak seven languages—but I’m quite shy, so you’ll rarely hear me speak them.

I grew up on an island outside of Stockholm, then spent 15 years living in big cities across the world. While I have a lifelong love for the ocean, I somehow ended up on an 18-hectare farm, surrounded by cows, sheep, and wide-open skies. Life has a funny way of bringing us to exactly where we need to be.

Before stepping fully into design and art, I trained in Reiki, coaching, and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. I’ve always seen creativity as both an energy and an experience—something that moves through us, shaping not just what we create, but how we live.
